"I told him Spider-Man is here to rescue you, no monsters are going to attack you and I told him to walk slowly towards me as running could be dangerous," Somchai told local television.Very smart and sensible, and a good guy doing his job.
The young boy immediately stood up and walked into his rescuer's arms, police said.

Cute story
I just find the story of the Thai fireman who dressed up as Superman to save an autistic boy so heart warming.

Happy 3rd anniversary!
On Friday it was 3 years since I started this blog. Amazing!
I "celebrated" with a going to the opera to see Die Fledermaus (The Bat) with some friends. Maybe a bit long for a Friday night, especially for me who always fall asleep on the sofa by 8 pm, but the music was fabulous. Made me want to put a on big ball gown and dance the night away with some handsome man in a evening dress. The cast were very good as usual and so was the set.
This was the my second time to the opera in the last six months so I guess I'm becoming a bit of a culture buff. Or that I'm old enough to say that I actually like classical music.

Start over
Can I just start this day over again? Or be over with it? Nothing has worked or gone my way since I got up this morning. I demand a retake. And a glass of wine and a hot bath. And some nonsense television.

Amazed by myself
Goofing off a bit at work today I somehow started to brows through my own posts on this blog, and I got amazed. Amazed by myself and my dedication for the last three years. Over 900 posts covering a big part of what is my life. Whoa! Never did I think I would be doing this three years down the line. It was just something to do while I was out of work. Thank you again Philip for the idea.
I've been pondering a lot lately if I was going to continue with this blog or not, but after today I know I will. Maybe not as frequent as before but this blog is an outlet of my thoughts and ideas which I need to keep doing. Maybe not as much for my readers (you're few but good) but for myself. To write is good. To be creative is good. To been an old time blooger is good.

Back on-line again
A new broadband modem arrived on Friday afternoon and more or less first things yesterday morning I was back on-line again. Again weird that one can feel so lost without an Internet connection, but on the other hand I've managed to read a lot more and watch some not so good television.
Wondering though what I did before the Internet. I've been on-line for 14 years now. First with modems and the incredible speed of 28,8K and 33,6K and since 2001 with a fixed broadband connection. Wow, that's more than a third of my life. I need to get a life... Or maybe this is my life...

No Internet connection
Since last night I have no Internet connection at home. What a pain! Still haven’t really figured out what the problem might be, but it seems like my modem/router might has given in. Need to call my ISP tonight and see if they have any ideas. I hate calling them because they act like I’m totally clueless and don’t believe what I’m saying. Many people probably are (I’ve worked at a helpdesk), so I don’t blame them, but still…
It’s rather interesting to see how helpless you get without a connection. I do everything online nowadays and with no connection last night almost felt lost. I managed to fall asleep on the sofa instead, which was rather nice since it was pouring outside.

Stephen Fry and Internet
My old time favourite Stephen Fry talked about the Internet, the web, social networks, emails and Twitter last Thursday on BBC Radio 4. As usual with great intellect and wit. On people worrying about the Internet he said the following:
But the internet is a city and, like any great city, it has monumental libraries and theatres and museums and places in which you can learn and pick up information and there are facilities for you that are astounding - specialised museums, not just general ones.Very true words from a man who calls himself dweeb and meistergeek.
But there are also slums and there are red light districts and there are really sleazy areas where you wouldn't want your children wandering alone...
And I think people must understand that about the internet - it is a new city, it's a virtual city and there will be parts of it of course that they dislike, but you don't pull down London because it's got a red light district.

Signs of spring
No gloves during my lunch time walk
No gloves walking home from the gym in the evening
Light when I leave for work and light when I get home
Sky that suddenly turns black and then the next minute the sun is shining again
Only four weeks until Easter

New foods
As usual when in London I like to try new foods. On Thursday night Philip, Michael and I went to vegetarian Indian restaurant off Tottenham Court Road. I have to admit that it wasn't the best Indian I have had, especially since I had been dreaming about Korma, but still interesting and fun. It's not every day you have fermented black lentils for dinner...
On Friday after a long walk from Kensington High Street all the way through Notting Hill and down Portobello Road something to eat was a top priority. The Gourmet Burger Kitchen wasn't really a new find, but the restaurant had the cutest little coke bottle of glass. I haven't seen those in ages. The ketchup also came in a tomato instead of bottle. Cute details that makes you want to come back. And yes the blue cheese burger was divine.
Being extremely tired on Saturday I met Michael for lunch who took me to China Town for dim sums. Again something that I had never had before. Pork and rice cooked in a lotus leave was delicious and so was the ones with scallops. Well everything was very good, and cheap. £20 for two persons right in the the middle of London. A hard to beat deal.

Back home again
Arrived home yesterday to +1, snow/rain and gusty winds which made me want to go back on the same plan and London. There it was sunny, +12 and on Friday I sat on a park bench drinking coffee and watching the pretty yellow daffodils.
London was as usual fab. I met up with friends, had curry (even though vegetarian), visited Kensington Palace, went shopping in my favourite stores (yes another dress shirt...) walked for hours, watched people, had salt and vinegar crisp, went to the pub and was just very very happy to be back in my favourite city.
My dream of living and working London comes to life after visit even though I after each visit also realize more and more that it is just a silly dream. But what's wrong with dreams when you get to touch them a little every now and then?

Early flight to London
I'm off to London tomorrow morning at 7 am, which means I have to be at the airport by 6 am. Way too early no matter how many times you do it. I'm normally up at 6 am, but not dressed and ready to board a plane.
As usual I'm very excited to go and probably for the last week or so I've been counting the days. London is just my town... Already now I have another trip for London booked. The annual summer sales trip with the girls the last weekend of June. Yeah, life is good and in less than 12 hours I'm in London.

Officially old
Another sign that I'm getting old – my hairdresser commented on my grey hair today. Usually it has been me joking about grey hairs, but today she said twice that golden highlights are good to cover up all my grey hairs. Eek! I didn't think there were so many...
Considering that my grandma had more or less white hair when she was 40 I guess it was just a matter of time. But with new highlights it's going to take at least 3-4 months again before they start showing again...

Blank mind
For the first time since starting to blog, which is very close 3 to years now, my mind is blank. I do not know what to write. Or really my head is actually buzzing, but how do I get that into clear constructed thoughts and on to here? No idea, so I'm just going to leave it like this...

Revolutionary Road
A friend and I went to see Revolutionary Road last week. I wasn't really sure what to expect other than it was going to be great to watch Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio together again, and it was. 10 (or is it close to 15?) years later, but still the same chemistry between them. This time in middle class 1950's America. They did everything according to the book, but dared to challenge society with breaking away from the ordinary. At least for a while...
Director Sam Mendes he has done a drama that is so intense it's almost choking you. As a Swede it's easy to think about Ingemar Bergman's Scenes from a marriage that he did in the early 1970's. When it's over you just sit there amazed that love, passion and broken promises can be so strong and so lethal.
