Fast moves

I had just gotten down to the fruit and veges stand around the corner on my way to the gym this morning when my mobile rang. Another call from the recruitment woman regarding the Internet Marketing Manager position. Could I be at the ferry company for a second interview in, lets see, 30-45 minutes? Hm, well yes I guess so… Less then 15 minutes later I had changed cloths, put on some make up and was waiting for the tram. I walked into the office of the ferry company 20 minutes after that. Just call me Superwoman, will you?!

Again I met with the HR Manager and the Sales Manger and we discussed the result of my test last week. I pointed out the difference between selling things and pitching for things. I’m no sales person, but I do know how to pitch for things. I also briefly touched the area of having to deal with staff issues, something that I never done before. Being a Project Manager is one thing, but to lead and direct people is a totally different question. The HR Manager’s reply was that there are always leadership-training classes. It wouldn’t be problem. The Sales Manager, who would be my boss if they pick me, was a lot more relaxed this time. He talked a lot about things they were working on right now and projects I would have to start. Just like I already had gotten the job… I have no idea how to interpret this. But it does sounds like they want to hire me… I will probably not know until next week, since the Sales Manager was going to be away tomorrow and Wednesday and then Thursday is holiday and Friday a bank holiday. Waitng is always the hardest part.

I still haven’t heard anything from the Internet consultancy company, which annoys me a bit. But then as long as they don’t call I don’t need to make up my mind… I’m not really surprised I haven’t heard from them. It took them more than one month to get back to me for an interview. Ugh! It’s clearly the employer’s world out there…
