No lessons on Holocaust

Reading headlines like that upsets me deeply. Apparently schools in the UK are dropping controversial subjects from history lessons - such as the Holocaust and the Crusades - because teachers do not want to cause offence, Government research has discovered.

What is wrong with people? Not everything in life is pretty. The history of mankind is definitely not pretty, but still everybody needs to know about it. Denying Holocaust is crime in many European country so what is not teaching our children about Holocaust then?

History teaches us to not make the same mistakes again. Banning the holocaust from school is as bad as it can be. It shows nothing but disrespect to the victims of the holocaust. They need respect and need to be rembered. If schools think it is to cruel to teach to childern wel then that is the schools problem. People can be cruel that is just life but at least let people learn that when you make choices (like voting for hitler) in your life it can have very bad concicences.

Hi there, although your post is a few years old, I had recently heard a similar thing: that the Holocaust was no longer being taught - and I was planning to write something about this on my own blog in the near future. So I did some research, and found that on Snopes, this is actually not the case. Feel free to check out the snopes story response dated March 14, 2008 @ http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/holocaust.asp.

That, too, is a few years ago, and I do not know if the policy has changed, so I will keep looking. However, that this might be of interest - and relief - to you.

Have a great day,
