Veterans Day

Seeing this beautiful picture at London Daily Photo made me wonder how it would feel like living in a country that have been or is at war. Understand me right now. I do not wish Sweden going into war and honestly I don’t wish that other countries had to do it either. Sweden hasn’t been at war since the mid/late 18th century and obviously we don’t have a tradition remembering those we lost. Last year I was in Paris at Armistice Day, as they call it, and seeing how President Chirac paid tribute with at wreath at Arc de Triomphe, I was wondering the same thing. My French colleagues tried to explain, and so have both British and American friends, but I can fathom what I would be like. Something that can only comes from enduring something so horrible as war.

Never less Veterans Day, Armistice Day and Remembrance Day is good day remembering those who did fought and being thankful that Sweden as a country has managed to not be part of a war for the last 250 years.
